In The News
Starting this year there will be a section on the Guidance Website called, "In the News." This section will be dedicated to articles from around the country regarding college admissions, SAT & ACT, career outlooks, etc. If we think it's interesting then we'll put it here. Click HERE to view this new area or click on the link to the left.

SAT & ACT Brief Prep for Busy Teens
Are you a student who can’t find time to prepare for their upcoming SAT or ACT? Someone who would never agree to one of the eight or twelve session reviews? Someone who just needs to be more familiar with the format of the test and learn various strategies? Here’s the opportunity that you may need: a “Brief Prep.” These classes will enhance students’ familiarity with the test, teach approaches to certain kinds of questions, and offer practice sample SAT and ACT questions in a short but action-packed session. Students will also receive a test preparation book. For more info on cost and date, click on the following links. SAT sessions CLICK HERE. ACT sessions CLICK HERE.

College Application Process
The college application process is VERY overwhelming. We are here to help you, so please ask questions. A great place to start thinking about the process is on the internet. We have plenty of useful links in the "College Planning" section of the website, including a new one called College Basics & College Navigator.

College Rep. Visits
Do you want to see all that a particular college has to offer? Why not stop by and hear what a College Representative has to say? Visit PrepHQ to find out who's coming and then click the button to sign up.

Having Trouble in a Class?
If you are having trouble in one or more classes, here are some helpful tips:

  1. Get a Student Tutor
The Guidance Department will help you will this. Either click on the link above OR fill out an appointment request (in the GRC) to set up a tutor. Tutors are generally found as quickly as possible, but may take up to a week or so to find someone compatible to your needs.

  2. Investigate Study Resources and Tips
Click on the link above to check out what other colleges and organizations have to say about study techniques and habits.

  3. Give a 110%
You may think that you are doing your best... but are you really? Have you tried different techniques for studying and doing your homework? Have you talked to your teacher? Have you studied with other students in your class? If you have tried all of these things, and you are still having difficulties in a class, make an appointment to see your counselor.

College Questions?
myFootpath is the company that makes PrepHQ, and not only are they the company that provides us with such a valuable resource, but they have a multitude of valuable college admissions, entrance test, and general college questions and answers. Take a minute and check out this site. (hint: click on College Prep and Ask the Counselor... but this is not the only area with great resources!)
