American Cancer Society’s Survivor Scholarship
Through the state wide fundraising efforts of Relay for Life, 100, $1,000.00 were awarded last year to young cancer survivors pursuing higher education.  Scholarships are open to individuals who are under 25 years old and have been diagnosed with cancer before the age of 21For additional information visit the American Cancer society web page.  Deadline – Mailed by applicant prior to January 30, 2004.

Armed Forces Scholarships
Any senior planning to apply to any of the U.S. Service Academies or any ROTC scholarship program should begin the application process immediately. If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Moeller.

AXA Achievement Community Scholarship
The AXA Achievement Community Scholarship program offers $2,000.00 college scholarships to high school seniors who have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the work place.  Applicants must be a citizen of the United States or a legal resident.  Additional information is available at the AXA website Deadline- February 13, 2004.

Ayn Rand Essay Contest
The Ayn Rand Institute sponsors two scholarship competitions.  Students in grade nine and ten may enter an essay relating Ayn Rand’s work Anthem.  Juniors and seniors are asked to write an essay on the novel Fountainhead.  The deadline for the Anthem essay is March 18, 2004.  The Fountainhead deadline - April 15, 2004.  For more information, click the link above.

Bernard C. Harris Scholarship Program
The Bernard C. Harris Scholarship Program is offered to Catholic high schools nationwide. Candidates should be SENIORS who have participated in part-time/full-time jobs, business ventures, or community service activities. Student will also be required to write an essay, "Why My Family is Important to Me."  Minimum GPA of 85 and letters of recommendation. Elder can only nominate ONE candidate for this scholarship, so if you are interested you should see Mr. Moeller for details. Deadline - March 12, 2004.

Best Buy Children's Foundation Scholarship Program
The Best Buy Children's Foundation is proud to award over $2 million in scholarships to more than 1300 students. Three graduating high school seniors in each U.S. Congressional District and the District of Columbia will receive scholarships for $1000 to $2000. Scholarship recipients are selected based on community service and academic achievement and must be entering an accredited U.S. university, college or technical school in the fall immediately after graduation. The application deadline is February 15, 2004. There are no extensions. Recipients will be notified by Scholarship America, administrators of the program. Big 33 Foundation
The Big 33 Scholarship Foundation is a clearinghouse for scholarships in Ohio and Pennsylvania.  The Foundation manages nearly 100 scholarships.  They will consider you for the scholarship that most closely matches your strengths.  You must be careful when completing the application.  More than 3000 applications were rejected last year due to errors on the application.  Application forms are available in the guidance off, any PNC Bank or online at http://www.big33.org/scholarships/index.shtml Deadline - January 30, 2004.
 

Boy Scouts of America
High school seniors who are Eagle Scouts are eligible to apply. Based on academic achievement, community service, various skills, and financial need. Value: $3000 - 40,000.  Contact your local Boy Scout Council OR Click on the Boy Scout symbol.

Christ Hospital School of Nursing
This is a tuition forgiveness plan.  Any graduate of the Christ Hospital School of nursing will have their tuition forgiven if they sign a two-year full-time work agreement with The Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati.  This offer will be available to students entering the nursing program in the fall of 2003.  Call 513-585-2401 to request an admission packet, ask questions, or schedule an appointment.

Cincinnati Music Theatre Scholarship
Cincinnati Music Theatre is offering two (2) $500 scholarships to Greater Cincinnati area high school seniors who will major in Theatre/Musical Arts at the collegiate level. Eligible students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and submit a portfolio. Selected applicants will be selected to audition in their performance area. Deadline - March 1, 2004. Cincinnati Scholarship Foundation
The CSF makes awards to financially eligible and academically worthy students.  Most scholarships are considered "last dollars" funds to cover the unmet need after all other federal, state and campus-based aid has been awarded.  If you may qualify for financial aid, complete this application.  ALL SENIORS SHOULD CONSIDER COMPLETING THIS APPLICATION. Several students from previous years are still receiving financial assistance from the foundation.  An official transcript must be submitted with the application. The deadline - April 26, 2004.

College Xpress
College Xpress will be awarding a $10,000.00 to one senior.  You must register on their web site.   College Xpress does provide free scholarship and college searches.  They are connected with estudentloan.com.  You may receive commercial information regarding student loans if you register.  The drawing for the scholarship will be on or about March 1, 2004.  To link to the scholarship rules, click here.

Discover Card Scholarships
This $25, 000 scholarship is offered to high school JUNIORS with a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75 and who excels in three areas: special talents, leadership, and community service. Scholarships may be used at any trade or technical school, two-year or four-year college. Deadline - January 9, 2004.

eCampusTours.com
eCampusTours.com offers students the opportunity complete virtual tours of college campuses.  ECampusTours.com uses iPEX imaging that allows 360 degree X 360 degree views of dorm rooms, classroom, and campus sites.  When students visit the eCampusTours.com web site, they can register to win a $1,000.00 scholarship.  ECampusTours.com is provided free of charge by edamerica.  Edamerica is a nonprofit corporation that provides low interest loans for education.  To register, visit http://www.eCampusTours.comDeadline- not provided.

The Elks National Scholarship Foundation
The Elks National Foundation will award $3.4 million in scholarship this year.  Many of the scholarships do not require the applicant to be related to a member of the BPO Elks.  Deadline –  Vary.

The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS)
Students are eligible to be considered for a GMS scholarship if they: are African American, American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, are a citizen/legal permanent resident or national of the United States, have attained a cumulative GPA of 3.3 on a 4.00 scale (unweighted) at the time of nomination. will be entering a U.S. accredited college or university as full-time, degree-seeking freshmen in the fall of 2004, have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities, and meets the Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria.  Deadline- January 16, 2004.

  General Electric Evendale Employees Credit Union
Open to students who have a minimum GPA of  3.00 and is related to a member of the GE Federal Credit Union.  Selection will be based upon strength of the student’s service to others.  Application must include an essay, two letters of recommendations and official high school transcripts.  Deadline -  January 7, 2004.

Greater Cincinnati African American Scholarship Fund
The GCAASF is awarding scholarship that range up to $5,000.00.  The awards are open to African-American students who have a GPA above 2.8 and pursuing a bachelor degree.  Selection will be based upon academic achievement, community involvement, leadership, extracurricular activities, and need.  Deadline - February 23, 2004.

Hoxworth Blood Center Scholarship
This scholarship is open to students with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Students must have community and school activities.  A short essay is required.  Deadline - March 19, 2004.

Jackie Robinson Foundation Scholarship
Awards up to $6,000.00 will be presented to scholarship winners.  Applicants must be a minority high school senior accepted by a four-year accredited college or university.  Applicants must have an SAT/ACT scores of 900/ 21 or above.  Financial need will be a factor.  Deadline –  March 19, 2004.

Junior Achievement/Office Depot Scholarship Scholarships are available through Junior Achievement/Office Depot for students who have completed or are enrolled in either JA Economics or JA Company Program.  An official transcript must be submitted with the application. The deadline - February 24, 2004.

Mensa Education and Research Foundation Scholarship
The American Mensa Society announces their annual essay contest open to graduating seniors.  Prizes will be awarded on the basis of essays of 550 or fewer words which state clearly and concisely the applicant's career, vocational and academic goals.  Please contact Mr. Moeller for a contest entry form or click above for more information.

Auxiliary of Mercy of Hospital Western Hills Scholarship
The Auxiliary of Mercy Hospital Western Hills announces their annual scholarship program for high school seniors planning to pursue a health care career.  Three $1000 scholarships will be awarded. Deadline - March 15, 2004.  Please see Mr. Moeller for an application.

Monsanto - imagineMonsanto Commitment to Agriculture Scholarship Program
The Monsanto Corporation will be awarding 150 $1,000.00 scholarships to students who are planning a career in agriculture and has a family actively involved in production agriculture.  Deadline -  February 10, 2004.

National CO-OP Scholarship Program
The National CO-OP Scholarship Program is sponsoring it's second annual scholarship program to students who enroll in one of the National Commission Partner Institutes and participate in CO-OP learning. Schools include: Antioch College, Drexel Univeristy, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University, CW Post Campus of Long Island University, Northeastern University, Pace University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, and University of Waterloo. National Federation of Independent Business Scholars Program
The NFIB will be awarding 100 $1,000.00 scholarships.  Applicants must be attending an accredited two or four-year university, college, or vocational institute.  A dues-paying member of NFIB must nominate applicants.  The applicant should demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and initiative, such as starting his or her own business, participation in organizations such as DECA, Junior Achievement and The National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship, among others, or through other initiatives.  Deadline- applications are accepted January 1 – March 31, 2004.    Additional information is available at www.nfib.com/education.

National MS Society Scholarship Program
The MS Society will be awarding $68,000.00 in scholarships.  Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:  a high school senior who is the child of an individual with MS who will be attending an accredited post secondary school for the first time. A high school senior who has MS and will be attending an accredited post secondary school for the first time.  A High School (or GED) graduates of any age who have MS and who will be attending an accredited post secondary school for the first time.  Deadline- apply between January 1 and February 16, 2004.

Achiever's Scholarship
This scholarship is for students attending NKU in the Fall of 2004. Students who reside in Ohio, have a 23 ACT or 1060 SAT score, and an  85 average qualify. Students may apply by clicking above. Ohio Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admission Officers
The OACRAO will offer five $500.00 non-renewable scholarships.  Applicants will be judged on service and leadership.  Winners must attend an OACRAO school.  Additional information and application is available at the OACRAO website.  Deadline- February 13, 2004.

Ohio Cooperative Education Association
The OCEA is awarding scholarships to attend an OCEA member school.  Member schools include Cincinnati State, Mount St. Joseph, Kettering University, Miami University (Hamilton and Middletown), Ohio State, University of Cincinnati, University of Dayton, Xavier and many more.  Applicants must have a minimum 3.4 GPA.  Deadline – February 27, 2004.

Ohio Newspaper Foundation
The ONF will award three $1,000.00 scholarships to minority students who plan to pursue a career in newspaper journalism.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Applicants must be Black, Hispanic, Asian American, or American Indian.  Deadline –  March 21, 2004.
 

The Ohio State University Alumni Association Scholarship
The Ohio State University Alumni Association announces their scholarship program to provide financial assistance to outstanding incoming freshmen.  The standards of selection for this award are:  rank in the top 25% of your class and demonstrate involvement in school and community activities. If you qualify and have an interest in attending Ohio State, please see Mr. Moeller for an application or click above. Deadline- January 15, 2004.

Printing Industries Association Scholarship
The Printing Industries Association, Inc. of Northern Kentucky and Ohio Is offering a scholarship to a student planning to major in graphic communications, print management, printing technology or graphic arts.  Deadline- January 24, 2004.

PfizerPfizer Epilepsy Scholarship
The Pfizer Corporation awards scholarships to students who have epilepsy and have shown high achievement in academic and extracurricular activities. For more information click above. Deadline- February 23, 2004.

The Red River Valley Fighter Pilots Association’s (RRVA) Scholarship
                                                                    
Grant Program

The RRVA Scholarship Grant Program was initiated in 1970 with the objective of "taking care of our own." Initially the scholarships were made available strictly to dependent sons and daughters of KIA/MIA/POW US aircrews lost while serving in Southeast Asia. Over the years, the eligibility criteria has been changed to include: The immediate dependents (spouse and children (natural/adopted)), of any member of the US Armed Forces who is listed in KIA or MIA status from any combat situation involving our military since August, 1964, including those lost in the World Trade Center and Pentagon events of 9/11/01; The immediate dependents (above) of military aircrew members killed as the result of performing aircrew duties during a non-combat mission; The immediate dependents (above) of current and/or deceased RRVA-members, who were in good standing at the time of their death.  Deadline – May 15, 2004.

Remember the Alamo Essay Contest
The History Channel is sponsoring an essay contest based on the documentary Remember the Alamo airing December 16, 2003 at 9PM. Students in grades 7-9 and 10-12 are eligible (different rules apply to each group). Students may write about one of 3 topics. 7-9 grand prize of $2500 and 3 first place prizes of $500. 10-12 grand prize of $5000 and 3 first place prizes of $500. Deadline is February 14, 2004. SAMMY 2004
The Milk Processor Education Program and USA Today have created the SAMMY awards to recognize outstanding senior scholar athletes.  Judging for award is based upon four criteria: academic performance (35%), athletic excellence (35%), leadership (15%), community service (15%), and milk experience (5%).  Applications will only be accepted online at www.whymilk.com The deadline - March 5, 2004.

Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Scholarship
The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Scholarship Program is designed to assist students who have lost a parent to breast cancer.  If you are eligible, please see Mr. Moeller for details of the application process.

2004 Target Scholarships
Target awards over six hundred $1000 scholarships each year - including one $25,000 scholarship - that recognizes volunteer work as well as academic achievement to high school seniors and college students age 24 and younger. To apply, call 1-800-316-6142, visit your local Target store, or click above. The next scholarship deadline is November 1, 2004. Current JUNIORS should consider applying for this next year.

Thomas More College Full-Tuition Scholarship

Seniors should take note that Thomas More College will once again award one full-tuition scholarship renewable for 4 years to a top Elder senior planning to attend Thomas More in the fall.  Selection will be based on academic achievement, community service, and interview.

Union Plus Scholarship Program
Since 1992, the Union Plus Scholarship Program has awarded more than $1.8 million to students of working families who want to begin or continue their secondary education.  Members of unions participating in any Union Plus program, their spouses and their dependent children (foster children, step children, and any other child for whom the individual member provides greater than 50% of his or her support) can apply for a Union Plus Scholarship. Members do not have to purchase any Union Plus program product or participate in any Union Plus programs to apply for the scholarships and scholarship awards are not based upon participation in a Union Plus program.  Deadline- must be postmarked by January 31, 2004.

United Negro College Fund (UNCF)
UNCF is a fund-raising consortium of 39 private, fully accredited, four-year, historically black colleges and universities. As an educational assistance organization, The College Fund provides operating assistance to its 39 member Colleges and universities, administers over 400 scholarship programs for African American students, provides technical assistance for HBCUs, and conducts research and data collection on African American education.  In its 55-year history, UNCF has raised over $1.4 billion to promote higher education achievement in the African American community and has helped to graduate over 300,000 African Americans from undergraduate and graduate programs.  Deadline- vary by scholarship.

University of Cincinnati, Cincinnatus Scholarship
More than $11 million in scholarships will draw the nation’s top-achieving high school seniors to the University of Cincinnati in a unique scholarship competition that encompasses academics, leadership and service. The Cincinnatus VIII scholarship competition will be held on campus on Saturday, Feb. 14. Students who can’t attend on that date can compete in the make up dates on Feb. 6 and Feb. 23.  To be considered for competition, high school seniors with a minimum 3.0 unweighted high school grade point average must submit their completed application (including high school transcript and test scores) to UC and must meet one of the following requirements: High school rank in top five percent of class, ACT composite of 26, SAT combined score of 1170. Last year’s competition drew 1,579 students and 2,206 parents to campus. Students who attend Cincinnatus VIII will compete for the following awards categories: Cincinnatus Awards – Ten full scholarship awards of $64,000, amounting to $16,000 per year, Founders Awards – 100 Founders awards of $24,000, or $6,000 per year, University Awards – 200 University awards of $14,000, or $3,500 per year Century Awards – Awards of $8,000, amounting to $2,000 per year.  For more information, check the Cincinnatus website.

Carl H. Linder Honors-PLUS Program
The Carl H. Lindner Honors-PLUS Program is a unique and challenging honors program within the College of Business at the University of Cincinnati.  This scholarship program is designed for highly motivated students with superior academic ability and demonstrated leadership who are committed to a career in business.  The scholarship has a value of $8500 for the Freshmen Year.  If you need more information and an application, please see Mr. Moeller.

Christos P. Demakes Legacy Scholarship
The Christos P. Demakes Legacy Scholarship will be awarded to an entering UC freshman who is a lineal descendant (children or grandchildren) of UC graduates who are members of the alumni association. Awards are based on academic achievement, demonstrated service and leadership. The deadline is April 1, 2004. For more information click above or see Mr. Moeller.

Urban League Guild of Greater Cincinnati
The Urban League of Greater Cincinnati is conducting an oratorical contest to award three scholarships.  Applicants will speak on the topic “All I can ever do in life is the best I can with what I have.”  The competition is open to African American seniors with a minimum GPA of 2.5.  Deadline –  January 30, 2004.

US Bank
US Bank will award up to thirty $1,000.00 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend accredited two- or four-year colleges full-time next school fall.  Scholarship award recipients are selected through a random drawing process.  Students can apply online by visiting the US Bank web site at: usbank.com/studentbanking.  The US Bank web site also contains information on paying for college.  The web site also contains a link to the Peterson's Scholarship Search Engine.  Keep in mind that US Bank does make loans for college.  Federal student loans can be made through any bank or other lending institution that wishes to participate.  The federal Department of Education program does set the rate and fees that a lender may charge.

U.S. JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship
The U.S. JCI Senate Foundation awards several $1,000.00 grants each year.  Two types of awards are given - academic based and need based. The awards are based upon grades, honors, activities, and service.  Deadline – January 6, 2004.

Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 10
Veteran’s, and their dependents that are U.S. citizens are eligible to apply for this $800.00 scholarship.  Selection criteria will include: community involvement, financial need, character, and academic achievement (2.5 GPA). Wal-Mart. Always Low Prices. Always. Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship
The Wal-Mart Associate Scholarship is a $2,000 scholarship payable over one year offered to graduating high school seniors employed by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. This scholarship is also available to associates' children who are considered ineligible for the Walton Family Foundation Scholarship, due to parent's length of employment, or not working full-time.  Deadline- January 26, 2004. Wal-Mart. Always Low Prices. Always. Sam Walton Community Scholarship Program
This scholarship is for a graduating Senior planning to attend a 2 or 4 year college in the Fall of 2004, who is not employeed by or have a parent employeed by Wal-Mart. Students must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 and have taken either the SAT or ACT. Applications are to be returned to your local Wal-Mart store by February 1, 2004. See Mr. Moeller for an application.

William D. Squires Scholarship
Ten $3,000.00 renewable scholarships will be awarded to graduates of public and private high schools in Ohio.  Selection will be based upon financial need.  Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.2.  Applications are available at www.wmd-squires-foundation.org/index.htmDeadline - April 5, 2004.

Xavier University Music Scholarships and Grants
Xavier University offers music scholarships and grants via 2 programs, to students planning to pursue a major in music, music education, and those who have ANY major.
1) The Performing Arts Grant is for ANY student regardless of major. Students must have applied for acceptance at Xavier University, have audition pieces prepared, be prepared for an interview, completed a "Grant Registration Form," and 2 letters of recommendation sent to Xavier University Department of Music. Audition Date is Saturday, February 21, 2004. See Mr. Moeller for complete details and registration materials.
2) Music Scholarship/Grant is for Music and Music Education Majors. Students must have applied for acceptance at Xavier University, have audition pieces prepared, be prepared for an interview, completed a "Grant Registration Form," and 2 letters of recommendation sent to Xavier University Department of Music.
